CENTURY COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON Minutes: Alexandra Fokine Attendance: DIANE CARLTOl, IAN WALDRON, JUDY (GRIBBEN) ENDACOTT, DEB CUSACK, LAURIE CUSACK, PETER WARREN, MICK SPILLANE, BLAIN HUGHES, ALEX MACKINNON, ESTHER MUNROE, ETTY GREEN, HOWARD BIRNIE, PHIL FAIRMAN, DAVID WOODWARD Linda Grieve (Graduate of RCI 1965 and current Principal) introduced Mel Greif History teacher at Humberside. Linda was Principal at Humberside when they celebrated their 100th. Mel informed us that their first meeting was held in 1984 (eight years prior to the event). They decided that the first thing was to write out an Aims and Objectives (given out at the meeting). Next they decided on what would be the focus of the reunion. Humberside had the Lismer Mural (Lismer was a member of the Group of Seven and in the early Sixties the Board of Education thought the Mural was not worth much and decided to take apart, since it was only a Group of Seven). The 100th Reunion brought the complete Lismer mural with the help of the National Gallery and McMichael Collection. The Humberside Century Committee would meet quarterly and in the last two years before the reunion met monthly.
The Humberside discussion ended at 7:50 p.m. Peter thanked Mel and Mel left the meeting so that we could discuss RCI 100th Reunion. RCIs 75th Reunion was quite the event; Saturday during the day at the school and at the Sheraton Convention Centre at Night. How do we do the 100th Reunion?
The next meeting will be held on June 7th at 7:00 p.m. at RCI. |
