Sixties Reunion October 4, 2008Following the 100th anniversary reunion at RCI in May 2007, a group of grads from '66 and '67 formed a committee to organize another reunion of those grads from our particular era. It was our belief that many more former classmates than attended the reunion at the school, might enjoy being reconnected if we were able to contact them and provide an appropriate venue. After reviewing possibilities, we booked Balmy Beach Club for the afternoon of October 4, 2008 for a casual gathering for anyone who went to RCI in the sixties. Over the months, we contacted those former classmates for whom we already had information. They helped us locate and contact others. Close to 200 former students and teachers pre-registered and another 35 paid at the door for what turned out to be a fabulous event. Don Reeves, 66 grad and musician/singer extraordinaire provided music of the '60s era with guest Bill Alexander, class of '67, also joining in the entertainment portion. Former sports teammates, former cheerleaders, former band, choir and orchestra members and former classmates had their pictures taken together once again. We were also thrilled to welcome, Kay Hoey, Avril Hill, Irene King, Cathy Drake (MacPhie), Don Creighton, and Joe McMahon who taught at the school during the sixties. In addition former students and RCI teachers John Wardle and Lynda (Hughes) Franklin were in attendance. Friendships were rekindled and fond memories exchanged. Just what we had hoped for… As people left, they said "let's do this again". We hope so. There really is "no better school than Riverdale".
